Timothy/6a Brooks was born 1 Apr 1772 at Stow, Massachusetts.1 As his parents' seventh son, he stood no chance of a landed inheritance in his birthplace, and so, with his older brother Luke, struck out for the northern frontier, arriving in Franconia, New Hampshire, sometime around 1797, where he married, by 1798, Rhoda Applebee, daughter of Zebedee Applebee and Joanna Sly,3 with whom he had 4 children.
The 1800 Census recorded their Franconia household as two boys under 10 (Levi, Nathan), one male 26-44 (Timothy), and one female 16-25 (Rhoda). Unidentified are a male 16-25 and a female 10-15.4
Their 1810 household included two males 10-15 (Levi, Nathan), one male 26-44 (Timothy), one female under 10 (Nancy), and one female 26-44 (Rhoda).5
Rhoda died 31 Jan 1844, a. 666, and Timothy 6 May following, a. 72.6 They are buried in Willow Cemetery6,7, his gravestone inscribed,
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ
     shall all be made alive.6
