Capt. Cornelius/3c Brooks was born 10 Sep 1711 at Wallingford, Connecticut,1,2, and baptised with 9 siblings 30 May 1725 at the Congregational Church in Cheshire.2,3 He married (1) Jerusha/3 Mattoon of Wallingford, daughter of Sgt. John/2 Mattoon and Jerusha Hall,2, who died at Wallingford 15 Aug 1741.2 He married (2) Sarah Hotchkiss, daughter of John Hotchkiss and Miriam Wood, and widow of Austin Bristol.2
     He was Wallingford deputy to the General Assemblies of May-Jun 1757 and Mar 17584; ensign of the south company, May 1759; lieutenant, May 1760; captain, May 1764.5 He died 25 Dec 1783 (c.r., g.s.), a. 722, and was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Cheshire.2,6 His widow Sarah died at Hamden 7 Aug 1784.7,2

     24 Mar 1748, his sister Sarah gave up all her rights to him in both the "house and homestead of my honored father Lieut. Thomas Brooks."6
     Henry's wife Mary died 29 Jul 1789.2 Recorded at Cheshire, Connecticut,in the 1790 census, family composed of himself, one male under 16, and two females.7 He married (2) Mehitabel Royce, daughter of Abel Royce and Joanna Beach, and widow of Jesse Bunnell2, removed to Bristol, Connecticut, circa 1794, and died in 1797.2 He is buried with his 1st wife in St. Peter's Church Cemetery, Cheshire.2,8
