Joel/5 Brainerd, perhaps a twin, was born 21 Nov 1764 at Middletown, CT, per town record. (Lucy Brainard variously places the birth at Chatham or Middle Haddam. Pencilled marginalia in the copy of Brainerd-Brainard Family consulted says that he and his siblings were born in Middle Haddam per "Ferris," p. 64.)1,2 He married, 24 May 1787 at Chatham (now East Hampton), Eunice/5h Brooks, daughter of Capt. Daniel/4h Brooks and Elizabeth Hurlburt.3,4,5 He died at Chatham 13 Jan 1835, a. 706, and she in Ohio 10 Jun 1840, a. 72.5,6
