Walter/1 Edmunds, born circa 1595, probably near Nottingham, Nottinghamshire,1, was among the earliest settlers of Concord, Massachusetts. His wife was Dorothy (–?–).2 Juror, 16 Jun 1657.3
As a former constable, it is ironic that on 27 Dec 1659, he was convicted of "suffering young people too frequently to set tipling strong waters in his house." The court admonished him to be more careful lest he be prosecuted as an unlicensed seller.4 Evidently Edmunds took the advice to heart, as 3 Apr 1660, the court "renewed" his license to retail strong waters.5
